Rem Koolhaas is in de lijst van grootste helden opgenomen met Moeder Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Picasso, Charles de Gaulle.
Koolhaas, architect en oprichter van OMA en de eigen denktank AMO, wordt geroemd om zijn nieuwe kijk op de functie van een gebouw. Time ziet hem als iemand die wanorde vruchtbaar kan vinden en in de chaos een nieuwe orde ontdekt.
Prijzen
Koolhaas is bekend om architectuurprojecten en stedenbouwkundige plannen. Zijn recente ontwerpen voor een bibliotheek in Seattle, maar ook voor de Nederlandse ambassade in Berlijn, zijn overladen met internationale prijzen.
Nederland
In Nederland ontwierp hij onder meer het masterplan voor Almere Hart en recent presenteerde OMA een voorontwerp voor De Binckhorst. Ontwerpen die nog niet zijn gerealiseerd zijn verder De Rotterdam in de gelijknamige stad en een ontwerp voor het Koningin Julianaplein in Den Haag.

That was my point. I admire Rem Koolhaas, but what have you contributed to his greatness, what did this community do for him to show his talent, to build?
See who did build Philips headquarters, ABN-Amro headquarters, ING headquarters, see the ministries in Den Haag. Not Rem for sure.

Je bent zo gefixeerd op Koolhaas dat je vergeet dat er ook nog andere architecten van formaat zijn die bouwen in Nederland. Je bewering raakt kant noch wal.
There is no point arguing. Of course there are other very talented archtects around. My point was that this world renown architect was not invited by Philips, ING or ABN-Amro to build their headquarters or by the government to build this or that palace for a ministry. But it does not matter.
To a clever person even a bumble-bee is a symphony. True?
